Pillow talk is the cheapest form of intimacy. Just ask my husband. Most of our nights involve getting in bed, cuddling up to each other, getting real comfy and me rolling over to ask him, “…you sleep?”
My poor husband…
Anyone who knows my husband knows that he’s a quiet man, an observer of the people and things around him. I tell people all the time that he’s really not that quiet, but then I remember that he only talks as much as he does because he’s answering my questions and engaged in conversation with me. I suppose I tend to talk a lot.
But, seriously, one of the strongest forms of intimacy in any + every relationship is communication. The thing that keeps our relationship in harmony is our ability to be able to talk to each other about any and everything. Even after 9 years of knowing each other, we still talk all day long. Like, seriously. We will email each other one conversation, text another conversation, meet for lunch and will email + text some more. I’m not even joking about that…
I recently participated in the Dating Divas 30 Day Love Challenge. I enjoy finding creative ways to nurture my marriage and this challenge was so much fun! I learned some tips on what to do and what not to do with the challenges and am really looking forward to the next one.
One of my favorite nights was using the Pillow Talk Conversation Starters. While they are simple questions, they are perfect for a little late night conversation before bedtime.
I’m a big proponent for getting to know the person you’re dating {if you haven’t noticed} and believe it or not, sometimes all it takes is asking the right questions to get to see their brand of crazy.
If you could commit a crime and get away with it, what would you do?
He said rob a bank. I said eradicate child abusers.
Where is the craziest place you’ve ever fallen asleep?
I’ve actually fallen asleep at a party. In a club. At the front door. *shrugs*
Where would you like to travel someday?
That list is so long that we would have been up all night…
Check out the printables over on the Dating Divas site. They have a ton of cool stuff for relationship building over there + this is one that you should definitely get!
Once you have them, here are the instructions for using them:
- Print out the sheets. Cut the questions apart, making sure to keep them in their categories {Daily questions, Silly questions, questions about the Future}
- Using a hole punch, put holes in each question.
- Add a book ring. I got mine from Walmart, but you can find them at any craft store…and I recently spotted some at our local Dollar Tree. This is what they are, in case you’re wondering what they look like {not an affiliate link} You can even use ribbon you have on hand 🙂
- Keep them close by the bed, so when you lay your head on your pillow, you can grab them + chat away!
If you’re not sharing a bed or spending the night, don’t think that you can’t use this little game. Make a picnic in the living room…or in the park…and take some time to get to know each other a little better!
Enjoy!
