Did you know there was a National Girls Night In?! Neither did I! But now that I know better, I’m going to do better.

You Need Your Girls

More than ever, we need each other. The enemy {bitter, frightened people} is quick to tell us that we don’t need other people involved in our marriage. The truth is that our marriages are stronger when we have a team of like-minded couples/people, that believes in the strength and sanctity of marriage, to walk with us on this journey. We had our marriage advocates and, without a doubt, some of these women are still very involved in my marriage, supporting me on the days when I’m stressed and frustrated and need to be reminded how to reclaim the joy in my marriage. And I’m blessed to be able to do the same for them.

No matter the relationship status, you need someone who will support you, encourage you, be your sounding board, and then reassure you that you will stay in your covenant. This is the most important reasons why you should have good, Christian girlfriends in your life.

The friendships that you make need to be nurtured and that’s where your girls night comes in!

Bring In the Girls

Organizing a movie night is super easy. If you want to go all out and decorate, have at it! The point of the night is to spend time with each other and to be there for each other. You don’t have to wait for a special occasion to get together and regroup. You can even make it a regular event as part of a group act of self-care!

Step 1: Invite your friends.

You don’t to spend a lot of time sending invitations, but how fun would that be?! Social media makes it very easy to invite people. Group texts might not even be annoying for this kind of event.

Step 2: Decide on a menu.

  • Popcorn bars are fun! Grab a variety of flavors from a local shop or different microwave varieties from the store.
  • You can have your guests go potluck style and everyone bring a dish to share. As the weather changes, tailor your menu to the season’s favorites.
  • Order pizza!
  • Get a few bottles of wine, soda, or make a custom cocktail for the event.

Step 3: Pick a movie.

Do you remember when Sanaa Lathan cut all of her her off?? I know I was wondering what in the world was up with her… Well, on Sept 21st, Netflix is letting us know!

Having a girls movie night in is just in time to watch Nappily Ever After! I can imagine the chatter around doing everything right to have the perfect life and then realizing it was all wrong…wait, can I come to your movie night??

If you want some other choices about what to watch, check out some of my faves:

  • White Chicks
  • Love Jones {I still love this soundtrack!}
  • Beauty Shop
  • Hidden Figures
  • Black Panther {umm, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Winston Duke…hello!!}

Don’t wait for the “perfect occasion” to get together with your girls. Call or text and meet up tonight. Celebrate with each other today and every chance you get.

What are you going to stay in and watch with your gal pals? Let me know in the comments below!
