We live in the world of cell phones and technology and are spending increasingly more time on them. They are often the barrier to true communication in relationships. More often than not, we’ll see couples out together at dinner, faces deep into their phones and not speaking to each other.
But did you know that you can use the apps on your phone to strengthen your relationship rather than push it apart?
I remember being chastised in church for using the Bible app on my phone instead of the print Bible. The elders didn’t understand how anyone could use technology to worship. But as with all knowledge, what matters most is what you do with it!
For National Technology Day, I’m sharing some of my favorite apps for strengthening your relationship!
My List of Marriage Apps
Spark Now
This is a partner app. It’s super cute in that you can assign “tasks” to each other, set deadlines, and even give rewards for tasks that are completed. It actually seems pretty great for couples who are super busy {like us} to make sure that we’re scheduling time together. It’s also great for asking your S.O. for help with little jobs around the house that you may need help with completing. And to be fair, your partner gets to ask for help from you too. In order for this to work, both of you will have to have the app installed. To set up, I registered us and the app sends hubby a code to link our accounts.
Fab Wives
This app is for the community of wives {and those who are on the verge of becoming a wife} called the Fab Wives. Some of the features of the app include the Fab Wives Podcast, Deeper Connections groups, the schedule for Sunday Chats, and lots more. This is a group of women supporting each other in every phase of their marriage journey. In order to access all of the features of the app, you do have to be a member of the community and you may sign up here.
Marriage Material
This is one of my favorite relationship strengthening apps! When we prepared for marriage, we had to know just how compatible we were with each other. We put ourselves through a lot of prayer, intentional work, and some hard conversations. This app does all of that in fun, quick quizzes to let you see if the person you with/interested in is actually marriage material. We’ve been together 7 years and are still pulling 99% compatibility on having our needs met. #winning And for those of you who are having to decide between more than one potential suitor, you can add extra relationships to compare the guys. Hey, sometimes you have to make a really, really informed decision…
Marriage A-Z
This app takes the alphabet and applies them to principles that help to build a strong covenant. Each principle is paired with a verse in Scripture that is meant to guide you into developing…and keeping…your covenant. You log in as a man or a woman and the lessons are tailored to be applicable to your role in your marriage. I’m nosy and I wanted to see what they had to say to the men lol If you want to switch to see what his roles are responsibilities are, simply close the app and then select the “I am a man” option. Or get him to download the app so that he can read it for himself…
5 Love
This is the app that goes along with the 5 Love Languages assessment by Dr. Gary Chapman. Do you know what your Love Language is? Do you know your partner’s? Understanding how we love…how we give it and receive it…is crucial in figuring how to meet each other’s needs in your marriage. It took me a while to figure out what my Love Language was. I took the assessment again and discovered that my Language has changed over the years. As we grow, the way that we receive love will probably change. Re-evaluating your needs often will help to keep your relationship on the right track. *There will be an update to the app. It’s going to change into the Love Push app*
