Hi, I’m Katherine!
I bet you’re wondering many things…like, who am I? What kind of experience do I have with relationships and marriage? What is this “yoked” stuff about and what does it have to do with me?
Who Am I?
I’m a Christian. I’m a wife. I’m an aunt of 4. I’m a former foster mother struggling with infertility.
My career path has taken me from chemist to safety manager to event planner. Now I’m a blogger + DIY crafter + cookie artist. And because I apparently don’t need sleep, have started working as the Social Media Director for the most awesome non-profit on the planet!
I married my best friend and the love of my life in November 2011 and we are, like, stupid happy in love. People have been trying to convince us that we’re still in the honeymoon phase and that it’ll wear off eventually. The truth of the matter is, we just really like each other + we’re best friends + we have a relationship based on agape love.
What Experience Do I Have?
Technically, none. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn a few times…
Hubby graduated with his M.S. degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling in December 2016. I’m pursuing a certification in Ministerial Counseling; the goal is to be able to assist hubby when he performs pre/marital counseling and not mess people up…
We put in a lot of effort to make sure that we had a great + sustainable relationship…BEFORE WE GOT ENGAGED! The hands-on work that we did was hard + eye-opening, but worth every moment. We put in 20 concentrated hours in before the engagement + another 40 hours in before the walk down the aisle.
Marriage is a ministry + a job…and just like a regular 8-430, you have to put in the work to be successful and progress.
What is “Yoked” and What Does It Have To Do With Me or You?
I believe so strongly in marriage + the covenant it represents to God + between spouses, that I want to offer my help and real-life experience on helping other women to navigate what to expect from marriage. It can be a fairy tale but remember that even in the stories of our youth, there were always trials on the way to the happily ever after. Yoked is all about real stories + real conversations dealing with what to expect from marriage…BEFORE the vows.
